Collection: Newel Posts
A newel post is a key structural and decorative element in a staircase. It is a vertical post that provides support for the handrail and helps bear the weight of the staircase. Newel posts are typically found at the bottom and top of a staircase, as well as at any points where the staircase changes direction, such as landings or turns.
There are two main types of newel posts:
Box Newels: These are square and box-shaped, often with a hollow center. They can feature various panel designs like fluted, raised, recessed, plain, or inlaid panel.
Turned Newels: These are typically rounded and shaped on a lathe, usually featuring decorative elements like rope twisting, fluting, or reeding.
Newel posts not only provide structural support but also add an aesthetic touch to the staircase, enhancing its overall design.
